Being an animal control officer carries a heartbreaking responsibility – one that often involves finding furry babies in devastating conditions.
One Texas officer was scouting the area for abandoned dogs when they stumbled upon Pixie.
She had been mercilessly tied to a pole by her previous owners, far from anyone who could find her. Pixie spent days curled up on the ground, with her ribs showing.
The sad truth was she was literally days away from facing the inevitable end…
There Was No Food And Water Anywhere Nearby

Pixie’s humans made her abandonment as cruel as possible. Not only did she not have a place to hide from potential danger, but Pixie had absolutely no food or water.
When found, she literally resembled a dog skeleton.
The officer’s prompt action was her only hope, and luckily, it was delivered just in time!

“This sweet babe was found tied to a pole, with no food or water whatsoever. The amazing animal control officer seemingly found this sweet girl just in time or she wouldn’t have lasted much longer out there,” Brizzee Animal Rescue stated on social media.
Pixie’s story reached Emily and Mike Brizzee, the founders of Brizzee Animal Rescue, in Haslet, Texas. The couple couldn’t help but take this poor girl into their rescue. Given her trauma, they knew being in a shelter would probably do more harm than good to Pixie.
Thus, a new beginning unfolded for this sweet girl!

Receiving a cozy place to be and a roof over her head, Pixie finally had a fresh start.
For the first time in forever, she was on her way to learning what true love feels like.

Pixie’s journey to trust again was not an easy process. However, Emily and her family did everything in their power to make her as comfortable as possible.
She was provided with plenty of space to move freely, along with lots of TLC. Eventually, Pixie not only came out of her shell but also began to exhibit her true colors.
She realized that her new hoomans meant well and started reciprocating their love with sweet kisses. She cuddled, wagged her tail, and had a beautiful smile on her face whenever she was around Emily and Mike. But, she really took to Brody, the couple’s eight-year-old son.

Now, she sleeps with him every night and feels as safe as she possibly can.
“She began to trust us and open up. She has become very attached to our 8-year-old son and sleeps with him at night,” Emily told The Dodo.
Her rescuers still work closely with Pixie. Once they make sure her anxious days are completely behind her, this sweet girl will be looking for a forever home.
For now, she’s happy to have hoomans who won’t let her down or betray her. Pixie has finally learned that humanity has a brighter side, and that love and security are what she seeks in her future family!
Vets Shocked When They Finally Found Out Why This Stray Pup Wasn’t Able To Stand Up On His Back Paws
When a pup named Bruno was picked up from the streets by dedicated rescuers, they thought he was just a regular puppy trying to rest his tired paws.
However, after calling him over, they noticed that something was wrong.
Bruno wasn’t able to stand up on his back legs. Knowing that he needed immediate medical attention, the rescuers picked him up, brought him to their car, and swiftly took him to the vet in order to determine what was wrong.

Since Bruno was found all alone on the streets, the rescuers didn’t really know what happened to him. Was his condition due to an injury or was he born this way?
While they waited for the vet to do his x-rays, the rescuers decided to spend some fun, quality time with him. This included a short playdate as well as a yummy meal to fill up his tummy and make him relax a bit.
As they were playing with him, they noticed Bruno desperately trying to stand up. This made them feel hopeful, knowing that he had the willpower to do so.

When he finished his scans, the vets were completely shocked with the results.
Bruno had no broken bones whatsoever! But why could he not walk then?
The vets suspected that his condition was either due to a stroke or congenital. Unfortunately, the vet’s office didn’t have all the necessary machines to determine the cause of his condition.
So, his rescuers decided to take him to the pet hospital.

Bruno’s rescuers noticed that he was anemic and absolutely covered in fleas and ticks. So, before taking him to the hospital, they decided to give him a much-needed spa day.
After his bath, Bruno slept the night like a little baby.
In the morning, they took the sweet pup to the clinic where he underwent a thorough medical exam.
Finally, they were able to tell what was wrong.
It was determined that Bruno had the plague. However, it seems that he recovered from it all on his own. The vets don’t understand how that was even possible.
They suspected that his mom had suffered from the plague and that he was born with it, making it possible for him to fight it without any medications.

But, in the end, it didn’t really matter. The most important thing was that he was healthy now.
And since he was in good health, his rescuers didn’t see a reason why he couldn’t be adopted right away. After a thorough search, they found a little family that was the perfect fit for him.
Even though little Bruno will never be able to walk on all fours, that didn’t mean that he couldn’t lead a happy and fulfilling life. His new family absolutely adores him and is doing everything they can to make his days as good as they can get.
