When you adore your hoomans, parting never feels simple. Hunty would agree if he could put it into words.
This affectionate New Jersey Shepherd mix is completely devoted to his parents, Sara and Ryan. One day they had to be away for a short stretch. It was not long in the grand scheme of things, but Hunty missed them with his whole heart.
He spent eleven days apart, waiting for the moment he could nuzzle them again. When that day finally arrived, he had no idea his parents were about to surprise him in the sweetest way.
A Late-Night Reunion He Did Not Expect
Calling Hunty a good boy barely covers it. Even with separation anxiety, he pushed through the days without Sara and Ryan. Each night he drifted off hoping that soon he would get to plant a kiss on their noses.
One night, that wish came true.
Sara and Ryan returned from their trip and quietly stepped into the room where Hunty was sleeping. It was 11:30 p.m., so he certainly was not expecting visitors.
They roused him gently, and what followed was pure love.
“It’s 11:30 P.M. and you get woken up by your mom and dad to go home after 11 days of not seeing them,” they wrote in the video.
At first, Hunty looked dazed, unsure what was happening.
“Pretty sure he thought he was dreaming because he seemed rattled,” his owners wrote.
Then everything clicked. His tail began whipping with joy, and he sprang up to deliver a flurry of kisses, pressing himself into his dad’s lap as if to make up for every minute apart. Eleven days had felt like forever, and suddenly it was over.
The Dog Who Goes Everywhere With His People
Hunty is more than a pet. He is part of the family’s daily rhythm.
He tags along with Sara and Ryan as often as possible, and he shows up for their biggest moments too. He even played a role at their wedding, which made the day even more memorable.
Though he is a rescue, they often joke that he is their child.
“I don’t think non-pet owners really get it. This is not just the dog. This is my son,” she says in a TikTok video.
Hunty thrives in his New Jersey routine. He enjoys neighborhood walks, meetups with friends, beach outings, and road trips near and far. Wherever his parents are, that is where he wants to be.
Home Is Wherever They Are
Back under the same roof, Hunty has settled right back into family life. His favorite activities are simple ones: curling up on the couch, greeting visitors, and keeping a watchful eye on the people he loves most.
For Hunty, being with his mom and dad is everything. After that late-night surprise, his world felt right again.
