Abandoning a pet in the woods usually means danger and disappearance. So when two puppies were left behind, someone decided they couldn’t ignore it any longer.
A woman from West Virginia drove to the location, found them huddled under trees, unsure what their fate would be. The woods echoed with their quiet desperation.
She reached out with food, voice low, trying to build trust where there had been only neglect.
And when she finally got them safe, the story took an unexpected turn that none of them anticipated.
How Did They End Up In The Woods?
When a TikTok user by the name of @griffeychronicles first saw a video of another woman dumping dogs in the forest, she was horrified.
She couldn’t stop thinking about the pups, so she ventured into the woods of West Virginia to help them. There were only two of them, so catching them shouldn’t be that big of a problem.
They likely didn’t have much time, as they were left with no food or way to survive, so the woman hurried to help them.
When she got there, the kind rescuer was shocked to see that they were waiting for their owner to come back. They didn’t understand what had happened yet.
It’s actually pretty heartbreaking to see how some dogs have so much faith in humans even after they have been abandoned. I am sure they would be happy to see their owner again, despite what happened.
The woman was baffled by how they ended up in this situation, but she had no time to think about that at the moment.
They Wanted To Wait For Their Owner
She had to come up with a plan to save them. They were a bit skittish and didn’t want to outright approach their rescuer.
In order to help them without scaring them, the woman tried to bait them with food. It took a solid hour before she was successful, but it happened.
The rescue was finally complete. The kind rescuer was over the moon that the two dogs were finally safe. They will need a checkup at the vet and a lot of food as soon as they get back.
However, something surprised her as she tried to get them away from the forest. They didn’t want to leave. They still had faith that their owner would return for them, so she tried to get them to safety.
The woman was successful and she took them to a shelter where they would hopefully find a home soon.
They will also receive a medical checkup and lots of food and treats. Since it had likely been a while since their last meal, they were going to need it.
I wont ever understand how you do this. yes, shelters are full. yes, you deal with crap when you post your animals for rehoming. but the answer should never be to just set them out and them figure it out. how?! 💔 thankfully, these babies have rescue and will find good homes. so many arent so lucky.
