Georgia Rescuer Heartbroken After Discovering Why Two Poodles Wouldn’t Leave The Road

For dogs who are left behind, the world suddenly becomes confusing. They wait in the same spot where they last saw their owners. They hope to see the familiar faces again, but they never return.

On a lonely road in Georgia, two poodles waited for their careless owners, too. They curled up next to each other and watched as the cars went by, hoping that one would stop.

Sadly, the cars passed by, and the poodles became more disappointed.

They comforted and guarded each other as the day faded into evening over Murphy Hollow Spring.

Waiting For Help On The Roadside

When Audray Luck drove down that road, she had no idea how much what she was about to see would stay with her.

As the founder of Luck’s Rescue, she had witnessed heartbreak before, but she always hoped each new call would end differently.

As she rounded a bend and saw the two small poodles, one black, one cream, lying close together, her heart sank.

There were no homes nearby, no food or water, just silence and two dogs clinging to each other in the place they’d last felt safe.

Luck stopped her car, grabbed her rescue gear, and approached slowly with food in her hand. The dogs were hungry enough to take her treats but too frightened to let her near.

Each time she tried to slip on a leash, they ran. They wanted help but didn’t yet know how to trust humans again.

For hours, Luck and her partner tried everything to coax them to safety.

As daylight faded, they had to leave, though it broke her heart to drive away.

She couldn’t stop thinking about the black poodle, barely visible against the dark road, and prayed they’d both still be there in the morning.

A Loss And A Second Chance

When she returned at dawn, her worst fear had come true. The black poodle had been hit by a car. Her sister sat beside her still body, unwilling to move.

The sight was almost too painful to bear.

“Her sister didn’t leave her side and was waiting there by her, which was heartbreaking to see,” Luck told The Dodo.

Determined to save the surviving dog, Luck set up her rescue trap again.

Within an hour, the frightened poodle was safely caught. She shook with fear, not yet realizing her life was about to change.

“She was extremely scared and upset that we caught her, but she was never going to suffer again,” Luck added.

Luck took the poodle, now named Princess Anastasia, to the vet. Luckily, after the vet examined her, she was found to be healthy.

Soon, she was placed in a foster home, where she could eat, sleep and begin to heal. Slowly, her eyes grew brighter, and her tail began to wag again.

Today, Princess Anastasia lives with a forever family who adores her. Her days are filled with comfort and joy.

Although she lost her sister, she no longer faces the world alone. Her heart, at last, has found peace.
