Shelter dogs spend their days hoping that someone will finally notice them and offer the loving home they have been waiting for.
Each morning, they sit near their kennel doors with hopeful eyes, wishing that today might be the day their forever family arrives.
At Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, California, a sweet two-year-old Mastiff named Jasmine was one of those hopeful pups. She longed for a family she could shower with affection.
Her gentle nature made her impossible to overlook. Staff and volunteers adored Jasmine and were certain she would be the perfect companion for the right home.
Jasmine’s Deep Disappointment

One day, Jasmine’s biggest wish seemed to come true. A family visiting the shelter spotted her, instantly connected with her, and chose to adopt her. They promised to give her all the love she deserved.
Jasmine could hardly contain her excitement. She believed her long-awaited moment had finally arrived. Before leaving, she kissed her shelter friends goodbye, confident that a wonderful new chapter was beginning.

Unfortunately, her happiness faded quickly.
Shortly after her adoption, Jasmine was brought back to the California shelter. Her adopters said she was jealous of their other dogs.
In truth, Jasmine simply wanted affection from her family. She did not know how to share attention, and her adopters struggled to understand her needs. Back in her kennel, Jasmine felt crushed as she realized she had been given up once more.
Shelter staff were heartbroken to see her return. Even so, they remained hopeful that the right family was still out there.
A New Beginning For Jasmine

Determined to help her, the shelter posted Jasmine’s story online, sharing how devastated she had been to lose her home. A video showed her pressing her paws against the kennel window, her sad expression revealing how much she wanted to belong to someone.
People who saw the video were moved by her situation and her longing to be part of a family again.
Thankfully, Jasmine’s wait did not last long. A compassionate family soon stepped forward and chose her. They offered her the stable, loving home she had always needed.
This time, Jasmine would be the only dog in the home, and her new family adored her completely.

Jasmine was thrilled. She finally had people who cherished her and promised never to give her up again.
Her happy ending serves as a reminder that countless shelter dogs, just like Jasmine, are still hoping for their turn. If you are considering adopting, visit your local shelter. You may find a loyal companion who has been waiting for someone just like you.
