I’ve encountered countless animals in need so far, and let me tell you: stray and abandoned pups are definitely some of the most resilient creatures out there. They’ve been hurt, betrayed, and forced to survive on their own. But no matter what, they always crave one thing: love.
It’s no different in the case of Muffin Man, an abandoned dog from Michigan.
One day, this injured boi appeared in the neighborhood, limped up to a stranger, wagged his tail, and just wanted to be scooped up.
Despite his broken leg and spirit, his heart was pure love.
All He Needed Was Love
Jordan Covington, founder of The KG Foundation is no stranger to helping dogs in need. Recently, she was outside in Detroit, Michigan, talking to a family about their dog, when Muffin Man appeared out of nowhere. His condition, though, was heartbreaking.
“Dropping off igloos and straw for this weekends upcoming temperature drop and this block headed certified lover boy comes gimping around the corner with an obvious broken/super infected leg,” Covington wrote on Facebook.
According to the family, Muffin Man had been abandoned by his owners and hit by a car just a few days ago. Yet, despite all that, he was not fearful. He was inclined to approach the rescuer and demand love.
“Neighbors say he’s the neighborhood stray that got hit by a car a week ago. Despite being in obvious pain this meathead just wanted to lay his head in our lap and hop right in his one way ticket outta the hood,” the Michigan rescuer added.
Muffin Man’s gentle nature was beyond words. This resilient pup put all his trust in Covington, hoping that, somehow, everything would turn out fine. And, boi, was he right!
After the initial encounter, the Michigan rescuer decided to take him with her. She safely loaded Muffin Man into her car, made him as comfy as possible, and drove away. Just like that, his whole life changed for the better.

Muffin Man was taken straight to the vet, where the team properly examined the extent of his injuries.
According to the vets, Muffin Man had multiple untreated wounds aside from his broken leg. On top of that, the pup was heartworm positive.
The Road To Recovery
Over the course of the next week, Muffin Man received the medical treatments he so desperately needed. The vets gave him antibiotics and pain meds, along with heartworm treatment.
“The Muffin Man is doing amazing, starting to heal his infection on his leg and even more full of love than the day we rescued him,” Covington shared in another post.
But even in what can only be described as the worst of times for Muffin Man, his affectionate personality remained the same. He smiled, wagged his tail, and showered everyone with love.
His sweet spirit was endless, and he showed it in the most adorable ways.
Soon, this brave boi will be well enough to move into a foster home. When the time comes, Covington and the rest of the team hope that Muffin Man will find a suitable family that will cherish him for who he truly is. And he is definitely the goodest boi!
