This is the story of Brandy, a gentle puppy who suffered cruelty before being rescued along a busy Arizona highway.
A Puppy In Urgent Need
While driving along Interstate 10 in Benson, Arizona, a truck driver noticed something unusual that made him slow down.
He spotted a small white shape lying motionless on an exit ramp. As he got closer, he realized it was a puppy in distress with a zip tie painfully tightened around her neck.
His heart sank. How could anyone abandon such a helpless little life in such danger?
Acting quickly, he rushed to her side, carefully removed the zip tie, and gave her relief. The frightened pup immediately felt safer, knowing someone kind had stopped for her.
The driver gave her water and stayed close until help could arrive.
Before long, trooper Iliana Magallanes reached the spot. Her heart sank when she noticed the puppy’s swollen neck and watery red eyes. The little one wagged her tail as though saying thank you.
“[She was] still friendly and happy despite her ordeal,” the Arizona Department of Public Safety shared.
Magallanes gently lifted the puppy into her car, determined to give her comfort and hope.
Finding Safety At The Shelter
During the ride to Benson Animal Shelter, Paws And Claws, the trooper wrapped her in a blanket and spoke softly to reassure her.
The puppy, later named Brandy, couldn’t stop smiling as she gazed at her rescuer. Her bright eyes revealed pure joy that kind people had finally found her.
At the shelter, Brandy was given a complete medical exam. Once her injuries were treated, she was welcomed into a foster home.
Her foster family surrounded her with love, care, and the space she needed to heal. Brandy quickly discovered the joy of naps in her own bed and playtime with toys, simple pleasures she had never known before.
Brandy’s New Life
It didn’t take long for Brandy’s fortune to change for the better. After her recovery, she discovered her forever family.
Now, she spends her days surrounded by affection, waiting to officially move in with her parents and cover them with endless kisses.
