Minnesota Dog Leaps Shelter Wall Just To Curl Beside Her Best Friend Again

By Chris Smith 02/01/2026

If there’s one trait dogs never lose, it’s their unwavering loyalty. At a shelter in Minneapolis, a security camera recorded a scene that quickly captured hearts: a Pittie named Brenda determined to stay near her closest companion, Linda.

Although the two had been placed in kennels right beside each other, Brenda wasn’t satisfied. She longed to be pressed close to Linda, just as they had always been before.

What unfolded next was a moment so touching that the shelter staff could hardly believe their eyes.

Rescued Together From The Streets

Brenda and Linda were found wandering the streets of Minneapolis, side by side. Minneapolis Animal Care & Control stepped in to rescue them and provide temporary shelter.

Staff didn’t realize just how inseparable the two were. They placed them in adjacent kennels, assuming that would be enough.

But Brenda had other plans. She scaled a five-foot cement wall just to be next to Linda again.

Security Footage Reveals A Touching Reunion

The following morning, staff were surprised to find Brenda curled up inside Linda’s kennel. No one could explain how she got there.

After checking the security footage, they saw Brenda leap the wall to reach her companion.

Danielle Joerge, a supervisor at MACC, shared how amazed everyone was by Brenda’s determination. She simply couldn’t bear to be apart from Linda, not even for a short time.

The shelter quickly moved the pair into a larger kennel so they could stay together. Later, they posted the video online, and it quickly went viral, drawing thousands of emotional responses from across the country.

Soon, the shelter was flooded with adoption inquiries. But there was one condition: Brenda and Linda had to be adopted together. Their bond was too strong to be broken.

Just one day after the video was released, Kathy Walker and her husband welcomed the two Pitties into their home after a thorough screening.

Two Dogs Find Their Forever Home

The Minneapolis couple had recently lost their beloved dog, Sampson, and hadn’t planned to adopt again so soon. But after seeing Brenda and Linda’s story, they felt compelled to visit the shelter.

Within thirty minutes of meeting the dogs, they filled out the adoption paperwork and made the decision to bring them home.

“The day before, I didn’t want any other dog. We had lost our dog after thirteen and a half years… The fact that she had to take care of her buddy, I was just thinking to myself, and this is gonna sound corny, I really thought my Sampson has something to do with this.”

Now, Brenda and Linda are thriving in their new home. They remain inseparable and are surrounded by love and care from their new family. For the first time, they have the safety and happiness they’ve always deserved.

When asked if she worried Brenda might continue her wall-jumping habit, Kathy smiled.

“I don’t think she’s gonna be one of those escape artists because as long as she sees Linda, she’s all good!”

Brenda and Linda’s story is a testament to the power of friendship and loyalty. We wish them many joyful years ahead, filled with comfort, love, and unforgettable moments.
