Sweet Black Pittie In New York Endures Countless Goodbyes And Years Of Being Overlooked For Her Color

Why is it that black Pit Bulls are so often passed by? Is it the shade of their coat, the reputation of their breed, or something harder to name?

Sadly, this is a familiar story. Countless black Pitties linger in shelters or move from one foster home to another, never settling into the lasting security they deserve.

Anna, a gentle and affectionate pup, knows this struggle all too well. Her warm nature shines through, yet time and again she has been overlooked, left to wonder why no family has chosen her.

After years of waiting, and even with two full years of searching behind her, Anna is still holding on, hoping for the day she can finally call a place her own.

Left Behind Again

Anna’s journey began with hardship. Before she ever experienced the comfort of a home, she was rescued from a dumpster alongside her mother and brother by Strong Paws Rescue in New York.

Her rescuers believed she had a bright future ahead. They hoped she’d be adopted quickly, but things didn’t go as planned.

“Anna is a loving black pitbull who’s been waiting almost two years for her forever home. We welcomed her into our care as a young puppy when she was found outside of a dumpster with her mom and brother,” Strong Paws Rescue shared on Facebook.

While her mother and sibling were adopted into loving homes, Anna remained behind. In all that time, she received just one adoption application, and it never materialized.

Instead, Anna entered foster care. At first, it gave her a glimpse of what it meant to belong. But each time she began to settle in, she had to move again. The constant upheaval slowly wore her down.

The repeated transitions made her more cautious, slower to trust. Yet once she feels safe, Anna blossoms into the affectionate, playful pup she truly is.

According to her rescue, Anna gets along wonderfully with other dogs, regardless of size, and would thrive in a home with canine companions.

“She is great with dogs big and small, and is a mix of playful and a cuddly couch potato,” they wrote.

Still, her breed and color continue to stand in the way of her finding a permanent home.

Too Many Goodbyes For One Dog

By the end of last year, Anna faced another loss. Her current foster family shared that they couldn’t keep her much longer. That meant yet another move, her eighth in just two years.

“It’s just not fair for her to keep moving. We really want to find her a permanent home by then, where she can finally feel safe, settled, and loved for good,” the rescue pleaded.

Anna has endured more emotional pain than any dog should. What she longs for most is consistency, a family who will see her for who she is and love her without conditions.

For now, she continues to wait, moving from one foster home to the next, holding onto the hope that someone will finally give her a chance.

Her story is a powerful reminder of how unfair life can be for dogs judged by appearance. Anna is gentle, affectionate, and wonderful with other pups. She would be the perfect companion for the right family.

After everything she has survived, rescued from a dumpster, passed over for years, and moved through eight foster homes, it is time for Anna to find the forever family she deserves.

She is ready for a home that will never let her go.
