Seasonal sensations
Each year, during the traditional dry season, two special camps offer guests the opportunity to experience Kruger uniquely. The camps only operate from 1 May to 30 September annually.

When the season ends, staff completely dismantle the camps and restore the surroundings to Nature’s timeless rhythm. Each camp has its own unique character, while both promise visitors understated luxury in a remote wilderness location.
Bookings open
Those wishing to secure accommodations will be pleased to note that bookings for the 2026 season are open.
These rates are inclusive of accommodation, all meals, daily tea and coffee, one open safari vehicle game drive per day, WiFi (in a designated area), and VAT.
The season runs from 1 May to 30 September, so be sure to make enquiries early to avoid disappointment. Guests can make bookings on the SANParks Website or through Kruger Untamed.
Satara Plains Camp

Satara Plains Camp is situated an hour northeast of Satara Rest Camp, on the fringe of an expansive, game-rich savanna. The area is well-known for excellent predator sightings.
Overlooking a seasonal river bed, the camp features 30 comfortably appointed en-suite luxury safari tents.

At this lively outpost, visitors can look forward to an energetic connection with the surrounding bushveld.
Tshokwane River Camp
Roughly an hour south of Satara Rest Camp, Kruger Untamed’s Tshokwane River Camp also sits on the bank of a seasonal river.

Shaded by large trees, this camp offers a more serene experience, marked by a slower, more immersive appreciation of the surrounding landscape.
According to Kruger Untamed, “Both are temporary by design, yet unforgettable for those who share in them.”

The Kruger Untamed ethos
According to their website, Kruger Untamed’s ethos is inspired by the raw power of the wilderness.
“We believe in the power of raw wilderness, the significance of finer details, and the integrity of leaving no trace. Every journey with us is shaped by reverence – for the land, its stories, and the fleeting moments that define a genuine encounter with the wild.”
Travellers can look forward to authentic wildlife encounters experienced as and when Nature decides to share them. Facilitating this immersive experience, indigenous Shangaan trackers are on hand to share their deep knowledge of the ecosystem and its inhabitants.
As a result, there is an emphasis on sustainability in the camps, in keeping with their seasonal opening. Great care has been taken to ensure a marginal imprint on the surroundings.

Accordingly, the luxury is epitomised in their statement: “Luxury in its simplest form: everything you need, nothing you don’t.”
Consequently, the Kruger Untamed camps appeal to nature lovers in search of an authentic, yet comfortable wilderness experience.
They come for the rawness, the unpredictability, the transformative power of the wild. They value authenticity rather than indulgence, substance over spectacle.
Since their inception, the two camps have received rave reviews. Read this article from Good Things Guy to find out more about what makes them so special.
