Dogs are known for being social, yet some take that trait to an entirely different level. They light up around people, seek out connection wherever they go, and seem most content when they are surrounded by friendly faces.
Meatball, a four year old French Bulldog from New Jersey, fits that description perfectly. Being around others is what he loves most, and he has turned one particular spot into the highlight of his weekly routine.
What truly sets him apart is the joy he carries into every visit. It is that infectious energy that has made him a cherished guest at a local nursing home.
A Pup Who Lives For His Visits
When Meatball knows it is time to see his nursing home friends, his excitement becomes almost impossible to contain. His weekly trips are a highlight for both him and the residents.
As soon as his parents arrive at the building, they open the door and let him trot inside. Meatball immediately races down the hallways, eager to greet everyone and announce his arrival.
After a few laps, he calms down and settles beside his friends, ready for the attention he loves so much.
Pets and affection are some of Meatball’s favorite things. This is part of the reason he adores visiting the nursing home so often.
His very first visit was meant for one person in particular: his uncle Billy. But Meatball’s friendly nature worked its magic, and before long he had formed a whole circle of new friends.
Now, his visits have become a cherished routine. The residents look forward to seeing him, and he enjoys every moment spent in their company.
He Never Wants The Day To End
Meatball’s charm has won over everyone at the facility. The residents adore him, and staff members light up whenever they see him arrive.
Although he loves people, he also makes time to stop in and see one of his closest buddies: Cheerio, a cockatiel who seems just as happy to receive a visit from the cheerful Frenchie.
Because Meatball enjoys his time at the nursing home so much, getting him to leave can sometimes be a challenge.
When his parents decide it is time to head home, Meatball usually plants himself in place and refuses to budge. They gently tug on his leash or call him, but he prefers to stay right where he is.
Eventually, once he has said goodbye to his friends one more time, he agrees to leave. There is no sadness in the long run because he knows he will be back the following week.
Meatball has become a bright spot in the residents’ days, and his cheerful spirit reminds everyone just how powerful a dog’s companionship can be.
