Living with dogs means accepting that surprises come with the territory. You may think you know their habits and moods perfectly, yet they still manage to catch you completely off guard.
Even the calmest, most predictable dogs can deliver moments that leave their humans staring in disbelief. One day it might be an unexpected burst of affection, another day a bit of comedy, and sometimes a talent no one knew was hiding there.
Rocio and her husband in Washington, D.C. experienced a moment like that.
Their morning began with fear and uncertainty, the kind of start no one hopes for. Yet before the day was over, that frightening beginning turned into a memory so remarkable it would stay with them forever.
The Day Everything Changed
Rocio and her husband lived happily with their two dogs, a Dachshund named Vienna and their newly adopted Pug, Floki.
Life was peaceful until one morning when Rocio was startled awake by what sounded like loud, human screams coming from the living room.
Heart racing, she ran to see what was happening.
To her shock, the sound was coming from Floki.
The little Pug was standing there, screaming at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing through the apartment. Even Vienna looked confused and uneasy.
Since there were no signs of injury or distress, Rocio and her husband assumed it was a one-time thing. But then, it happened again. And again.
“Before getting Floki, I didn’t know a dog could do THIS. But one day, I saw him screaming at the top of his lungs. I was like, ‘Man, what are you screaming for?’,” Rocio told Cuddle Buddies.

The strange outbursts continued for days. Floki wasn’t hungry or scared, yet his piercing screams filled the house.
Rocio and her husband tried everything to calm him down: soothing words, extra cuddles, even his favorite snacks, but nothing worked.
Concerned something serious might be wrong, they finally decided to take him to the vet.
A Shocking Discovery
After a full examination, the veterinarian gave them surprising news.
Floki was completely healthy.
There were no signs of illness, no pain, and no underlying issues. His screaming, as strange as it sounded, was simply his way of communicating.

“We took him to the vet, we did all the check-ups… It turned out Floki is a 100% healthy Pug. He has no heart or breathing problems. His screams are just the way he expresses himself,” Rocio said.
At first, the couple found it hard to believe. Could this really be how Floki chose to express himself?
But once the shock wore off, they decided to embrace it. Instead of trying to quiet him, they started laughing every time Floki let out his dramatic cries.
Now, Floki “sings” his heart out whenever the mood strikes, whether it’s dinner time, a bird outside the window, or simply when he wants attention.
If there were a contest for the loudest Pug in Washington, D.C., Floki would undoubtedly win first place.
But for Rocio and her husband, his loud personality has only made life brighter. What began as fear turned into amusement and a deeper understanding of their quirky little dog.
Floki’s antics have even earned him fans online. His family regularly shares his funny moments on his Instagram page, where followers can enjoy the unique way he makes his voice heard.
