Adorable Pup Decided To Reach Out His Paw Through Kennel Hoping Somebody Would Finally Notice Him

Sadly, we hoomans tend to forget how scary shelters can get.

This is because we only tend to see the shelter staff working hard to ensure that every animal has the best stay possible. But, they can only do so much.

Animals need individual attention that comes from their own hoomans. Even if it’s just for a simple playdate, this makes the biggest difference.

But, the pup, Lancer, didn’t experience that for too long.

Just Looking For A Friend

Like any other pup, Lancer thought that his shelter stay would be quite short.

Unfortunately, after staying at the  City of Mobile Animal Services of Alabama for seven months, Lancer started feeling a bit down.

But, this adorable pup refused to let go of his hope and decided to take matters into his own paws and do something about it.

“Whenever someone would walk past his kennel, he would stick out his paw in an attempt for someone to hold it,” digital media manager for City of Mobile Animal Services, Mary Kate Hale, told The Dodo.

Whenever a potential adopter would arrive at the Alabama shelter, Lancer would approach the door of his kennel, get up on his back two paws, and stick as much of his body as he could through the opening.

He would then wave his cute little paw, hoping that somebody would notice him and immediately fall in love.

There was nothing this sweet boy wanted more than to finally be a part of a loving family.

“Lancer is known for his sweet nature and love of peanut butter. After a round of zoomies, he can be found napping in a shaded spot with his legs sprawled out like a frog’s,” Hale said.

Good Things Will Always Come

One day, Lancer noticed a volunteer about to pass his kennel so he did what he knew best: put on his cutest face and got his paw through the fence.

The volunteer was overwhelmed with the cuteness so they decided to snap a photo. Knowing that it would make everybody’s day, they decided to post the photo and Lancer’s story on social media.

And, of course, the world fell head over heels for this sweet boy.

“Within 24 hours of being posted on Facebook, Lancer caught the attention of his future dad, Nick,” Hale said.

Just by looking at that photo, Nick was able to see what a good boy this pup was. He also knew that he would be the perfect addition to his family.

So, after meeting him face-to-face, Nick sealed the deal and gave Lancer what he always wanted – love and attention.

Ever since then, this sweet pup is absolutely thriving in his new home. He spends his days playing, snacking, and eating.

And, the sweetest part is… whenever Lancer reaches his hand, Nick is there to hold it!
