Picture yourself out running errands, deciding to swing by McDonald’s for a quick meal, when something small catches your eye moving between the cars.
It is a stray dog, threading his way through the drive thru line, slipping past one vehicle after another with a look that says everything. He is searching for food, silently pleading for even the smallest bite.
Hunger keeps him going. It pushes him from car to car, doing whatever he can to make it through. Some drivers barely look at him before moving on. Others toss out scraps, hoping that will be enough to send him elsewhere.
One driver in California saw the whole thing.
Unlike so many others, he did not ignore the dog. He chose compassion, stepped in, and reached out for the help that desperate pup so clearly needed.
A Pup Who Had Been Through Too Much
After spotting the starving dog outside McDonald’s, the concerned driver reached out to Logan’s Legacy 29. Rescuer Suzette Hall asked her friend, Mary Nakiso, if she could step in.
Mary agreed at once and arrived quickly. One look told her the truth. He was exhausted and painfully undernourished.
He likely had not eaten for days. The fast food parking lot had become his only chance at finding anything to quiet the hunger.
Each time a car pulled forward, the dog glanced up with a heartbreaking expression, silently begging for a small act of kindness.
Mary learned he had been surviving outside that McDonald’s for two days. Most people ignored him until a Good Samaritan decided to act.
Although Mary approached gently, the frightened pup kept retreating, unsure if he could trust her yet.
