When Irene Di Prato-Valdez first met her adorable puppy, she was surprised to see her just lying in the kennel and barking.
The woman saw that the pup was not available for adoption yet, so she had to leave and wait until that fateful day.
Then, another problem happened. She was taken to a foster home, so Irene had to go home empty-handed again.

It was Macie. The pup turned around and reacted. They believed that was the pup’s first name because dogs have a tendency to respond to names as a verbal cue.
Nevertheless, the California owners kept calling her Poptart, and that became the name she responds to now.

One person commented: “Yep, I did that with a stray I found. She was steady eating while I said names outlook. I said Maggie and she immediately dropped the food and looked at me. Maggie was with me until she was 15.”
It makes you wonder whether or not they were really strays. Maybe this dog actually had an owner before and that was her name.
Another person said: “I think the name Macy suits her and she responded real quick.”
Yeah, it was a really pretty name and it makes me wonder why they went with Poptart. I feel like Macie suits her the best.
Lastly, somebody commented: “My parents got a dog named Jake (his given name) And he wouldn’t even look at you. We went through names and said Remmie and he looked at us. He chose his own name. Lol.”
Maybe that’s the key. It’s possible that these dogs are really choosing their own names and it’s not the other way around.
