Dog Injured In Car Accident Finds Home, Then Ends Up At Shelter After Neglect

Grace just wanted to be loved.

This sweet Dobie had a tough life journey at no fault of her own. After being seriously hurt in a car accident, she spent days begging for someone to help her.

Ultimately, Grace found the perfect foster home with the people who welcomed her with an open heart.

But when she least expected, her story, once again, took an unexpected turn – for the worse.

Found In Terrible Condition

For Juliana, the founder of Dirt Road Dogs, based in Choctaw, Oklahoma, it was hard to stay immune to Grace’s case. As soon as she heard about her situation, she took her in on a foster basis and provided her with the best care possible.

“She is a loyal and sweet mini Dobie who is being fostered here at camp with @dirtroad_dogs after she was found hit by a car and suffering with a broken foot,” DRD wrote on Instagram.

Grace adapted to the new environment at her own pace. She transformed into a lovely dog that just loves to be around humans. However, Grace still needed time to acclimate to her new furry buddies.

But that didn’t last long, either.

After only a couple of months, she was a brand-new dog, enjoying her life to the fullest.

This black Dobie girl was the epitome of the perfect companion – one ideal for families of all kinds. Eventually, her sweet personality brought her the one thing that she had been missing for months – a forever home!

A Phone Call They Hoped To Never Receive

Juliana and her family couldn’t be happier to see Grace embark on a brand-new journey. However, after almost a year, she received a truly heartbreaking phone call.

Turns out, the owner who initially adopted Grace was arrested for abuse and neglect, and this poor girl ended up in animal control alongside several other dogs. Grace’s microchip ultimately led the officers to Juliana’s rescue, and Grace, once again, was homeless!

“She and the other dogs had been starved, neglected and abused. Her and the few that survived were taken in and given medical treatment,” DRD wrote.

Juliana’s heart shattered into a million pieces. She truly believed that Grace had finally found the home that she deserved and craved so much. Instead, all she received was more trauma.

She and her family had no doubts about picking up Grace one more time. However, they weren’t quite sure if she would remember them after all that time.

When the moment of their reunion came, Juliana was anxious about Grace’s reaction, but this lovely girl soon shattered all her fears. She remembered!

“It’s been almost a year since Grace left us but when she saw us it was clear she remembered us,” DRD added.

After one harrowing life journey, Grace went full circle. She was finally back where she felt the safest, only this time, it was for good!

Juliana and her family decided to keep Grace in their Oklahoma home forever and give this resilient girl a new chance at life.

Despite the trauma, Grace couldn’t be happier to get a fresh start. She will need some time to adapt again to new circumstances, but the important thing is that she will never, ever have to face abuse again.

From now on, her days will be filled with joy, laughter, and lots of exciting adventures with her furry siblings.
