Dog Thrown From Van In California Spends Two Weeks Evading Coyotes, Until Hope Arrives

Here’s the ultimate truth about our four-legged friends that many overlook: dogs never give up on the people they love, even when those people give up on them.

They’re just born with unshakable loyalty. Their love doesn’t fade. They don’t get mad. They simply love you, even when you decide to turn your back on them. And even then, they wait, hope, and keep believing that the person who left might somehow come back.

That hope kept Panda alive.

After being cruelly thrown from a white van on a California street, this brave girl survived two long weeks alone. She evaded coyotes, hid in different places, and suffered heartbreak. But one thing she never did was give up.

“Waiting, Watching, Hoping”

Two weeks ago, a white van pulled up and dumped three dogs on the roadside. Before they could even process what had happened, the owner sped away and vanished into the night.

Before long, animal control officers managed to capture two of them. But the little one, later named Panda, slipped away.

“Two weeks ago, a white van pulled up and dumped three beautiful dogs. Animal Control was able to catch two of them — but one little girl couldn’t be caught,” Suzette Hall, an experienced animal rescuer from California, shared on Facebook.

From that moment on, Panda survived the only way she knew how: by hiding.

“Through the rain, the cold, and the darkness, she stayed near the spot where they had left her… waiting, watching, hoping. But no one could get close,” Hall added.

Fortunately, Panda was spotted just in time by kind-hearted people. Katrina, one of them, spent every night leaving food for this little girl, and even a little toy for comfort.

“The little girl found a tiny “safe” spot where Katrina placed a blanket for her — and even a little toy that she’d quietly play with when no one was looking. She’s such a fighter… such a survivor,” Hall wrote.

In the meantime, Katrina made sure Panda wasn’t attacked by coyotes in the area. Every night, she would go outside and scare them away with the bullhorn, making sure Panda was safe.

Although still scared, Panda felt more comfortable. Katrina became her guardian, and her act of kindness helped the dog feel safer.

Safe At Last

When Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, received a call about Panda, she immediately sprang into action.

She and her team of helpers arrived at the spot and set a humane trap, hoping to lure Panda in with delicious treats. In the meantime, Theresa, her fellow rescuer, chased away the coyotes that appeared once again.

A few minutes later, Panda walked into the trap. And just like that, she was finally safe.

Hall safely loaded Panda into her car and drove her to a pet hospital. During the ride, Panda, once trembling with fear and trusting no one, slept comfortably in her crate.

“After two long, terrifying weeks of fighting for her life… she finally slept. Probably for the first time in forever,” Hall concluded.

Now safe in the care of Logan’s Legacy 29, Panda will never need to worry about her safety. Her days of hiding are over.
