Moving into a new house isn’t just an adjustment for people, it can stir up plenty of feelings for pets too.

Dogs notice everything. They’re tuned into their surroundings, picking up on even the tiniest differences that humans might overlook. What feels minor to us can feel enormous to them, which is why helping them feel safe and included matters so much.

For Christy, a little West Highland White Terrier from Florida, her family’s move brought more than fresh walls and new rooms. The moment they stepped into their brand-new home, she discovered a surprise that captured her heart instantly.

Wait… Could This Be Mine?

The upgraded house impressed everyone in the family. While they all admired the extra space and modern features, one particular detail completely captivated Christy and sent her into an excited frenzy.

It wasn’t the expansive backyard, the smooth hardwood floors, or the welcoming neighborhood perfect for new dog friends.

What truly caught Christy’s attention was…

…the swimming pool.

Like many Florida homes, this one featured a sparkling pool that seemed to call her name.

The moment Christy spotted it through the sliding glass door, she began leaping and squealing with excitement.

When her dad jokingly asked if the pool was hers, she spun in circles, wagged her tail furiously, and begged to be let outside. The little Westie could hardly wait for her first dip.

Her dad finally opened the door, and Christy raced out at lightning speed. Without hesitation, she plunged into the water as if she had been waiting her whole life for this moment.

Immediately, Christy became a nimble swimmer, paddling energetically back and forth across the pool. She climbed out, found a cozy spot, then leapt in again for another joyful splash.

She was in complete bliss, as though her dream had arrived in the form of a backyard pool.

Choosing a home with a pool proved to be the perfect decision. Swimming and water therapy are excellent for dogs, offering both exercise and fun.

That day, Christy was happier than ever. The move had brought joy to the family and provided a space where everyone could relax and have fun together.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Christy will allow anyone else to enjoy “her” pool. Knowing her, she will happily share it with those she loves most.

Christy has officially claimed “her” pool!
