I’ve always said that dogs are smarter than most people give them credit for, and that applies in more situations than one.
For example, tracking dogs are trained to use their senses to find missing people, and that is a really important job.
These pups become heroes when they find people who are lost in the forests, and deservedly so. They earned that credit.
When Brown County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana was notified about two missing kids, they immediately all gathered for a search and rescue mission.
The Dogs Sensed Something
After receiving information about two missing children who got lost somewhere in Hoosier Forest, the officers from Brown County Sheriff’s Office coordinated a thorough search of the area.
The officers learned that eleven year old children got separated from their mother in Hoosier forest, and she couldn’t find them.
To expand the search, the sheriff’s office brought in reinforcements from the Department of Natural Resources – Law Enforcement, the Nashville Police Department, the Harrison Township Fire Department, and the Southern Brown Volunteer Fire Department.
They also brought a K9 named Knox with them to help with the search and it’s safe to say that his sharp senses were more than useful in this search.
He pretty much pointed the first responders in the right direction and that’s basically how they were able to find the two missing children in the forest.
This was incredible news as it yet again showed just why dogs are our most beloved and cherished furry companions. They save our lives.
Responses Online
After this entire event unfolded, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana posted the entire story on their Facebook page where it went viral.
One person commented: “Such a good boy!! I know there is one mama who is very happy and thankful in Indiana to the officer and K9 Knox!”
The mom was very grateful to everyone who worked tirelessly to find her children. This was an exceptional moment for Knox who was delighted that he did his work well.
Another person said: “Shepherd are the best. We had a GSD and he loved to sniff out our daughter when he was around.”
Yeah, they really are. Knox’s story started out as one where lived on the streets as a stray until he was taken in by shelter and then police officers trained him to become a K9. Since then, he has become a very determined and sweet dog.
Lastly, somebody commented: “It’s wonderful they were found and the dogs are trained so well to be able to find people especially kids. Thank You!!”
Yeah, and you can just tell that Knox is really good at what he does. He is happy to see families reunited and a treat after a job well done also doesn’t hurt.
If this story has illustrated anything in a few hundred words, it’s that dogs are really intelligent and capable and we should never forget that.
