Indiana Rescuers Were Shocked When They Discovered What Was Stuck High In The Tree

For many of us, our dogs are more than pets; they’re family. We love their playful energy, their loyalty, and the way they make even an ordinary day brighter.

But with that love comes worry. Every pet parent knows the feeling of panic when their furry friend disappears from sight or gets into a situation they can’t fix on their own.

That’s exactly what one family in Indiana went through when their husky, Aurora, let her curiosity get the best of her.

The unexpected situation she found herself in shocked her family and Aurora herself.

A Husky’s Adventure

It all started when Aurora saw a squirrel running up a tree in her family’s backyard in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and decided to go after it.

But in her excitement, Aurora didn’t realize just how far she’d gone until she found herself in the tree, high above the ground.

When her family came outside, they froze. Their beloved husky wasn’t in the yard. She was in a tree.

She had no idea how to get down. They tried calling her, offering treats, anything to lure her back to safety. But Aurora stayed where she was and didn’t know what to do.

That’s when they called for help, and Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control arrived.

Rescuing Aurora

Even the animal control officers were surprised by what they found.

“Our dispatch team was quite surprised when they heard a dog was stuck in a tree. That is something we do not hear frequently, if ever,” Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control later shared on Facebook.

Officers Taylor and Baird approached carefully, not wanting to scare the husky. Officer Taylor reached out with a catch pole, speaking in a calm voice to comfort her.

“Do you want to come down?” he asks in the video, while her owner adds from the background, “Was the squirrel worth it, young lady?”

Hearing their voices seemed to comfort Aurora. Little by little, she began to step toward the rescuer.

Shortly after, her paws finally touched the ground. Her family rushed to her side laughing through tears of relief.

Aurora wagged her tail, happy to be safe again, as if realizing her little squirrel chase had gotten just a bit out of hand.

Safe And Sound Once Again

Thankfully, Aurora was completely unharmed. She was relieved and a little embarrassed.

She stood proudly beside her rescuers, her thick fur glowing in the sunlight and her tail swishing with joy.

The department praised the officers for handling the “unique situation with kindness and patience,” and thanked everyone involved for helping Aurora home safely.

For this adventurous husky, what began as a playful chase ended with a lesson in love, patience, and the bond that always brings a family back together.
