It Takes A Village Animal Rescue based in Muscatine, Iowa, stepped in to help. Once they learned of Ralph’s condition, they placed him in a foster home.

Just days after arriving, Ralph’s foster family noticed something alarming. He wasn’t using his legs at all. Instead, he dragged himself across the floor on his belly, unable to support his own weight.
Concerned by his movements, they contacted the rescue immediately. A vet visit was scheduled, and the results were devastating.
Ralph was diagnosed with swimmer syndrome, a developmental disorder that caused his legs to splay outward. It meant he couldn’t stand or walk.
Despite the prognosis, his rescuers didn’t give up. They transferred him to a critical-care foster home, where Sarah Evans and her roommates welcomed him with open arms.
