Too often, abandoned dogs are left behind by people who never truly understood their worth.

For many dogs, this painful reality becomes the start of a long and uncertain journey. Occasionally, though, an owner leaves a note, a small piece of explanation that offers rescuers a glimpse into what happened.
That was the case for one tiny pup, found alone with a message from the person who had walked away.
The Message That Revealed Her Past
Before she was abandoned on the streets of Kansas, Jade had just been adopted from a shelter. She was beginning to settle into her new home, and it seemed as though her hardest days were finally behind her.
But everything changed almost instantly. Only three days after her adoption, Jade was back outside again, left on the street by her owner.
Animal Control Officers found her wandering and noticed a note attached that read: “Looking for good home to avoid pound.”
