No dog should experience the trauma of being abandoned. The fear, confusion, and heartbreak can leave deep emotional scars, and the hope is that compassionate humans will intervene to help these vulnerable animals heal.
One night in Newark, New Jersey, Mia’s owner left her tied to a fence with nothing but a small blanket, a modest portion of food, and a bowl of water.
She remained alone in the dark, clinging to hope that someone would return for her, yet that moment never came.
Compassionate Rescue Arrives Just In Time
Thankfully, caring individuals noticed Mia left alone and acted quickly. Yasmin, an experienced volunteer with Jersey Pits Rescue in New Jersey, rushed to the scene, her heart aching at the sight.
“I just got a call about an abandoned Pitbull. They left her here with a blanket and food and water,” Yasmin told The Dodo.
Mia’s gentle, affectionate nature became apparent immediately. She wagged her tail and offered a smile, as if sensing that help had finally arrived.
Mia Wins Hearts From The Start
Since it was late at night, Yasmin brought a blanket and pillow and chose to stay with Mia in her car, unsure how her other dogs would react. They bonded over treats, easing Mia’s fear and stress.
The next morning, Mia received a flea treatment and was introduced to a temporary shelter in Yasmin’s home.
“Mia is the sweetest, most precious little soul we have ever met. We have no idea how a dog that was abandoned in this way can still be so resilient and loving,” the rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
Mia quickly adapted to her new environment. Her manners and social skills indicated she had previously lived as a cherished pet.
“She is very low maintenance and happy just to be around her people. She walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, and absolutely LOVES kids! Mia does not mind being in her crate and knows to use the bathroom outside,” her rescue wrote.
Mia showed affection freely, getting along with Yasmin’s cat and other animals. Her love for children and constant desire for attention became clear as she flourished in her new surroundings.
Mia Meets Her Perfect Foster Dad
A few days after arriving, Mia received a life-changing surprise when the rescue introduced her to her ideal foster dad, David.
Upon meeting him, she ran straight into his arms, instantly forming a strong bond. She clung to him constantly, clearly recognizing him as her person above all others.
Soon, Mia became the perfect foster fail. David and his family could not bear to be separated from her, so they chose to make her a permanent member of their household.
Today, Mia’s life is filled with adventure, love, and endless companionship with her favorite humans. She will never again experience abandonment; her days of fear and loneliness are fully replaced with joy and affection.
