Everyone understands how powerful food is in a dog’s world. Meals are often the best part of their day, and even after the bowl is empty, many dogs are more than happy to ask for seconds.
Anyone who has tried to eat with a dog parked nearby, eyes locked on every bite, knows the struggle. You want to give in and make them happy, but you also want to protect their health and avoid extra weight.
Those moments always pull at my heart. Still, I remind myself that skipping table scraps is sometimes the kindest choice.
That logic rarely stops a determined dog from testing their luck. One foster dog in New York proved just that when dinner took an unexpected turn.
A Foster Dog Who Could Not Ignore Pizza

One night, Alexa Reidenauer was sitting down to pizza with friends when her foster dog, Rebecca, made herself part of the gathering. Rebecca had come to Alexa underweight and malnourished, so food was never far from her thoughts.
As slices were passed around, Rebecca waited patiently until she managed to get a taste of the cheesy feast. Once that happened, she was hooked and immediately wanted more.
Alexa shared that because Rebecca was still underweight, she felt comfortable letting her enjoy a bit extra. Pizza has a way of winning over almost anyone.

What made the moment even more surprising was that Rebecca often struggled with appetite issues. Seeing her so eager to eat was unusual.
Rebecca had been dealing with several health concerns, and Alexa’s priority was keeping her comfortable. Since the pizza clearly sparked her interest, Alexa hoped it might help encourage her to eat more consistently.
Rebecca was not the only one tempted. Alexa’s own dog, Joni, also joined in and snagged a slice for herself.
When Pizza Revealed Her True Spark

Watching Rebecca light up, Alexa decided to capture the moment on video. It did not take long for the clip of the pizza-loving pup to spread and draw reactions online.
One person commented: “I didn’t realize discovering a rescue’s fav food was a canon event, mine came alive when I had French fries around her for the first time.”
Another wrote: “I feel like maybe we should have guessed that because who doesn’t love a good slice over chicken.”
I can relate. My own dog doesn’t have a single favorite food. He simply eats whatever is offered with the same level of enthusiasm.

Others chimed in with their own stories. One person said: “My sweet senior dog will only eat roasted chicken, pork, or beef. she’s 16 so I’m just overjoyed she’s eating.”
That comment struck a chord. Older dogs often lose interest in eating, so moments when they truly enjoy a meal can feel incredibly reassuring.
As the responses rolled in, it became clear how many people connected with Rebecca’s story.
Many pet owners understand the relief of finding something their senior dog will eat, even if it is just a small indulgence that makes mealtime feel joyful again.
At this point, she can eat whatever she wants 😭♥️ @Isabel Klee
