Moe-Moe was a gentle, affectionate dog living with a family in Kansas, completely certain that he would always be part of their world. The American Bulldog mix adored the children above all else, filling his days with playful energy and endless affection.

Then everything changed without warning.

When the family gathered their belongings and drove away, Moe-Moe was left behind, confined inside a carrier set on the curb beside piles of discarded trash.

Confused and heartbroken, he lowered his head and looked out through the bars, his eyes heavy with sorrow. In that quiet moment, his only wish was that someone walking past would notice him and offer the kindness and safety he was still waiting for.

Thrown Out And Waiting For Help

When sanitation workers arrived to collect the trash, they were stunned to find Moe-Moe sitting among the discarded furniture and garbage bags.

“Moe-Moe was literally put out with the trash,” Hoke County Animal Shelter wrote on Facebook.

The workers gave him water, contacted animal control, and stayed by his side until help arrived.

They soon learned that Moe-Moe’s family had left for good, abandoning him without a second thought. Animal control officers brought Moe-Moe to safety.

Hoke County Animal Shelter in Raeford welcomed him with open arms and promised to help him start over.

The staff quickly saw how sweet and gentle he was.

“He’s such a sweetheart and I can’t imagine what he’s feeling right now,” the shelter added.

They comforted him, offered affection, and helped him begin to heal. Moe-Moe no longer felt alone, and his spirit began to lift.

The shelter posted his story and photos on Facebook, and the response was immediate. Followers were heartbroken by Moe-Moe’s ordeal.

They announced that he would soon begin the search for a loving forever home.

Moe-Moe Finds His Forever Family

The shelter’s emotional post quickly spread, and Moe-Moe’s story reached the right person.

A compassionate woman saw the post and was instantly drawn to him. She visited the shelter and completed the adoption process.

Before leaving, Moe-Moe said goodbye to the staff who had cared for him. They were thrilled to see him begin a new life.

He climbed into his new mom’s car, tail wagging, ready to start fresh.

Once settled into his new home, Moe-Moe began to thrive.

“He’s already enjoying his big beautiful backyard and his new home,” the shelter shared in a Facebook update.

From being abandoned on a North Carolina curb like discarded trash, Moe-Moe transformed into a joyful dog surrounded by love and care.

Thanks to the kindness of strangers and the dedication of rescuers, Moe-Moe finally received the second chance every dog deserves.
