As a pregnant stray roamed the streets of Oklahoma, she longed for a way out of her harsh reality.
In her heart, she dreamed of a safe haven where her puppies could grow without fear, where food would always be waiting, and survival would never be a daily battle.
When she was finally taken to a shelter, the young dog believed she was one step closer to that dream.
For a moment, hope flickered. But the overcrowded facility had no space left, and the two-year-old was placed on the euthanasia list.
Inside her kennel, she sat quietly, almost as if she knew her days were numbered. The question hung heavy in the air: would someone come to save her before time ran out?
Saved Just In Time

The pregnant dog, later named Mama Baskin Robbin, still hoped for a better tomorrow but was beginning to lose faith. She longed for freedom and a chance to live.
Sara, a dedicated foster, came across a Facebook post about Mama Baskin Robbin. The message was a desperate, last-minute plea for help.
The dog’s euthanasia was scheduled for 9 a.m., and time was quickly slipping away.
Sara immediately contacted Pawsitive Tails, a Kansas City-based rescue organization, to see if they could intervene.
At 8:30 a.m., just thirty minutes before the scheduled procedure, the rescue managed to reach the shelter. They anxiously waited for confirmation, praying they weren’t too late.
To everyone’s relief, the shelter agreed to hold Mama Baskin Robbin and keep her safe until she could be picked up.
Mama Baskin Robbin’s Journey To Safety

A compassionate volunteer drove more than five hours to reach the shelter and bring Mama Baskin Robbin to safety.
Even during the drive, the exhausted dog looked out the window with a sad, uncertain expression, unaware that her life had just been spared.
When she arrived at Sara’s home, she was welcomed with warmth and gentle affection.

Sara prepared a cozy whelping box for Mama Baskin Robbin and her soon-to-arrive puppies. Finally able to relax, the dog curled up and slept peacefully, feeling secure for the first time in a long while.
Having fostered pregnant dogs for over a decade, Sara knew exactly what to expect and was ready to give Mama Baskin Robbin all the care she needed.
Welcoming The Puppies After A Long Labor

Just three days later, following an eighteen-hour labor, Mama Baskin Robbin gave birth to eleven healthy puppies. Each was named after a Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor, in honor of their mom’s name.
She immediately proved to be a loving and attentive mother, keeping her babies close and cleaning their tiny faces with care.

A few nights later, Mama Baskin Robbin gave Sara quite a scare when she began trembling. Sara rushed her to the vet, where tests revealed that she was slightly anemic, likely from the exhausting delivery.
Thankfully, it was nothing serious, and with rest and care, she began to recover.

As days passed, Mama Baskin Robbin’s personality blossomed. She started smiling, wagging her tail, and cuddling with her puppies, finally realizing she was safe.
Sara continues to look after Mama Baskin Robbin and her litter. When the puppies reach ten to twelve weeks old, they will be ready to find loving forever homes.
After everything she has endured, there is no doubt that Mama Baskin Robbin and her little ones will soon be cherished by families who truly deserve them.
