Zoe just wanted to be loved.
Yet, on that horrible day, she was shown cruelty instead of love.
Her owners who no longer wanted anything to do with her decided to leave Zoe deep in the forest, far away from anyone who could hear her desperate yelp. To ensure she wouldn’t follow them home, they tied her to a nearby tree and left – for good.
Terrified of the unknown surroundings and the darkness of the night, all Zoe could do was wait… and hope.

Just when Zoe had lost all hope of being found, a random passerby stumbled upon her. Shocked by what they had seen, they immediately sprang into action. They contacted Kola Kariola, the local rescue specializing in saving stray and abandoned animals.
“An enlightened mind found the ‘best’ way to get rid of the dog. He probably thought that tying her to a tree was better than leaving her free,” KK wrote on Instagram.
The rescue team was on the spot within hours, ready to give Zoe what she had hoped for all along – hope.
When the rescuers first saw Zoe, she appeared completely hopeless. All she had with her was a rope around her neck, with absolutely no food or water anywhere nearby.

On top of that, not everything went as smoothly as the team had planned.
Zoe was still in a great deal of shock and couldn’t trust anyone. When the rescuers tried to untie her, she barked and growled in fear to scare the unknown humans away.
However, with a little bit of patience and the use of a catchpole, the volunteers eventually succeeded, and Zoe was now finally ready to leave the spot that made her terrified to the bone.

She was gently loaded in the car and headed to the rescue facility, still unaware that her rough past was now behind her.
Zoe Is Nothing But The Sweetest Lovebug

It took this sweet girl less than a few weeks to realize that she was finally safe.
Everyone on the team, including her vets, showered her with love on a daily basis – and Zoe soon came out of her shell. Underneath her fearful demeanor was the sweetest lovebug, a dog that craved nothing but love and cuddles!
“She is gentle, kind and cheerful, ready to give her best,” the rescue added.

She soon acclimated to the rescue environment, meeting all those new friends that shared the same destiny.
Endless kisses on her cute nose and dozens of delicious meals later, Zoe was a brand-new dog. She miraculously transformed after a terrible turn of events, and her caregivers couldn’t be happier. To see Zoe practically reborn was a gift that no amount of money could replace!
“Zoe is living proof that miracles do happen. She is a puppy who truly deserves a second chance,” the rescue wrote on Instagram.

Currently, Zoe is in the process of finding a forever home. She seeks a family that will give her everything she missed out on in the previous home. But, most importantly, she wants someone who will stick with her in good times and bad.
That’s why her team will make sure Zoe goes into a family who would never, ever abandon her.
Until then, she will gladly settle for daily beach visits and lots of playtime with her shelter buddies!
