What was meant to be a simple seaside walk turned into a moment neither of them expected.
They followed the surf, counted the waves, and scanned the sand for seashells; just another day. Then they spotted something in the water, far enough to worry.
The South Carolina couple paused, untied their shoes, and walked closer. The tide carried something small, struggling against the pull of the current.
They considered jumping in, but the waves were rough and they didn’t have gear.
That’s when one of them glanced at a traffic cone abandoned nearby, pointed it toward the water, and moved toward action instead of panic.
In that moment, a casual stroll became a rescue, and what they pulled from the surf changed everything.
It Was A Raccoon

Not too long ago, a couple from South Carolina decided to go on a morning walk near the seaside in Charleston.
Will Deleo and his girlfriend were just enjoying their day when they suddenly saw something in the water. It looked like a struggling animal.
Upon closer inspection, they realized that it was a raccoon that was barely managing to swim in the water. As soon as they realized the severity of the situation, the couple rushed to help.

Deleo told The Dodo: “At first I thought it was a cat. But then I realized it was a raccoon, and he had no way of getting out of the water.”
The couple knew that the raccoon didn’t have a lot of time, so they tried looking for something that would help them with the rescue.
Deleo continued: “The first thing I thought of is, ‘I sure would hope someone would try to save me if I were in his position.’”
Using A Traffic Cone To Help Is Brilliant

The kind man then found a traffic cone and used it to reach below the seawall and directly to the raccoon. It took a while.
They had a few failed attempts, but eventually the raccoon latched onto the traffic cone and Deleo pulled him up to the surface.
The raccoon was finally safe. Deleo said: “He was so tired, but he finally held on long enough to make it to the top of the seawall.”

Deleo could just tell how relieved the raccoon was. Even though he could hardly move, he looked grateful to his rescuers for saving him.
Shortly after they picked him up, he went back to his natural habitat, and this was only possible because the kind couple decided to help.
Deleo ended by saying: “It felt good! I would hope someone would have done the same for me.”
