Even though the life of a rescuer is filled with so many happy and heartwarming memories, they also have moments they wish they could just forget.
From saving animals from dangerous situations to finding them in the most disturbing circumstances, their stories can shatter even the coldest hearts.
Something similar happened when the hoomans of Mastiff Rescue of Florida Inc. heard about Gator’s story.
He Deserved Better

When a good Samaritan contacted the Florida rescue, they informed them that a pup named Gator was thrown into a lake by his owner who wanted to drown him.
Luckily, the hooman was by the lake at the right time and was able to save the poor pup.
Since the pup wasn’t doing too well, the hooman asked them if they could take the doggo in their loving care which the rescuers did without any hesitation.
“We picked him up from the shelter and took him immediately to the ER because he had pneumonia … Fortunately, all our supporters helped Gator pull through with their donations,” they wrote in a Facebook post.

Since he was such a brave and determined boy, Gator made a full recovery in no time!
His new hoomans showered him in love, making him develop a little separation anxiety as he had no idea what that felt like before!
But, this proved to be no issue as a hooman named Travis was looking for a pup just like that!
“When Travis went to meet Gator it was like they had been together, the bond was immediate,” they added.

Since Travis had recently lost his adorable pup Nora Ann, adopting Gator helped him to honor his sweet girl in the best way possible.
“Gator moved into Travis’s home like he belonged there, he became friends with the other dog and started playing, loved all the comfy dog beds, lounging by the pool, getting in bed with Travis, all the good food. Gator has the life he deserves..LOTS OF LOVE! MRF Thanks Travis and his family for loving this special soul,” they wrote.
Knowing that Gator finally found a family that loves and respects him truly brings joy to my heart. There truly is nothing better than seeing a sweet pup thrive!
