Boo was a tiny newborn who once lived on the streets with her mother and littermates.
When Animal Control found the family, they brought them to a shelter to keep them safe. Sadly, once they were placed together in a kennel, Boo’s mother rejected her puppies and even became aggressive toward them.
Too young to understand what was happening, Boo and her siblings longed for the warmth and comfort only a mother could give.
Because they required round-the-clock care, the shelter reached out to Compassionate Canine Society, a home-based rescue in El Paso, Texas, for help.
Boo Finds A Loving Foster
The rescue took in three of the puppies and immediately began bottle-feeding them every two hours, keeping them warm and closely monitored.
At first, things looked promising, but after a week, Boo suddenly became sick. She was taken to the vet, who diagnosed her with pneumonia and prescribed antibiotics.
Not long after, her siblings, Sulley and Mike, also became ill. Their condition was serious, and the vet warned that they might not make it.
The rescue team refused to give up. With careful treatment, affection, and constant supervision, the puppies slowly began to recover.
As they grew stronger, their personalities started to show. Boo revealed herself to be a bit of an introvert, often sneaking away for quiet moments on her own.
When the puppies were finally healthy, the rescue began looking for forever homes.
Boo soon caught the eye of a woman who joined the group’s “Foster to Adopt” program. The plan was for Boo to spend two weeks in her new home before the adoption became official.
Everyone at the rescue was thrilled, certain Boo had found her happy ending.
A Sudden Return
Unfortunately, their excitement didn’t last long. Just one day later, the woman contacted the rescue to say she wanted to return Boo because she cried too much.
The team assured her that it was okay to bring Boo back if she wasn’t the right fit, but they couldn’t help feeling disappointed. They knew Boo’s crying came from confusion and the stress of being separated from her siblings.
That evening, Boo was returned to the rescue, but staff noticed she had a small bump on her head. Thankfully, it wasn’t serious and healed quickly.
Despite everything, Boo’s playful spirit soon returned. She went back to running around, wagging her tail, and enjoying attention from the volunteers.
Fortunately, interest in Boo didn’t fade. She has since been placed in another foster-to-adopt home, where everyone hopes she will finally find her forever family.
After all she’s endured, Boo deserves nothing less than a life filled with love, comfort, and security.
