Dogs don’t ask for much, just a warm place, a sense of safety, and someone who will actually look out for them. And it’s heartbreaking that so many never get the kindness they should.
In Austin, Texas, one situation was especially cruel. A four-week-old Husky puppy was thrown into a trash can and left there to suffer alone.
The tiny pup was weak and close to slipping away, crying out in the hope that someone, anyone, would hear him.
A Stranger Hears Cries For Help

By pure luck, a passerby heard soft whimpers coming from inside the garbage bin and decided to take a closer look. What they discovered was horrifying.
A fragile Husky puppy was huddled at the bottom, barely conscious and struggling to survive.
The pup, later named Kiss, was freezing and almost unresponsive. Without hesitation, the Good Samaritan scooped him up and rushed him to an emergency veterinarian.
The vet team quickly realized how dire his condition was. His blood sugar levels were so dangerously low they could not even be measured, and he was far too weak to eat on his own.
They immediately began warming his tiny body, providing fluids, and monitoring him closely. Kiss could not lift his head, but he continued fighting, refusing to give up.
The Fight To Save His Life Continues

The next morning, Kiss was transferred to Austin Animal Center for further care.
Since he required more intensive treatment, staff soon moved him to Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), where he could receive around-the-clock medical support.

Veterinarians at APA! worked tirelessly to stabilize him. They restored his blood sugar, rehydrated him, and placed him on antibiotics to help his fragile body recover.
“In a private clinic, care like this would cost over $1,000. At APA!, we do everything we can to keep that cost lower for pets like Kiss — but it’s still a heavy lift…” Austin Pets Alive! wrote in a Facebook post.
As Kiss’s story spread online, people responded with outrage over the cruelty he endured and deep gratitude for the stranger and rescuers who stepped in.
Kiss is now searching for a foster home in Central Texas, someone who can help him grow stronger every day. Once he fully heals, he will be ready for the loving forever home he truly deserves.
Thanks to one compassionate passerby and the unwavering dedication of rescue teams, Kiss has been given the second chance he almost never received.
