All you need to change an abandoned dog’s life is a single glance. They are left on the roads, in remote areas, and dumping sites, and sometimes, a careful eye is enough to spot them crying for help.
That’s exactly what one Texas passerby witnessed. A tiny puppy was cruelly hurled from a moving truck and dumped on the street. It was a moment so cruel that it left them frozen in disbelief.
But instead of heartbreak, the kind person chose action, and it turned out to be life-saving! The puppy, now named Tommy, was rescued on time.
Cruelty No Puppy Should Ever Face
The act of cruelty by Tommy’s previous owner left an entire community heartbroken.
This tiny puppy was seen being literally thrown from a moving truck. Fortunately, the witness who saw the entire incident immediately rushed into action.
According to Austin Pets Alive!, a Texas rescue organization, Tommy was brought to animal services within minutes. As it turned out, this prompt action proved to be crucial for his survival!
“Tommy was thrown from a car and a community member witnessed the horrific scene! Luckily, someone was there to step in when the person in the car failed this sweet puppy. This quick-thinking individual alerted animal services who brought the puppy into an emergency clinic to receive immediate treatment overnight,” the Texas rescue wrote on Facebook.
When Tommy arrived at the facility, the staff realized just how much this small puppy had already been through. He was absolutely disoriented, weak, and showing signs of head trauma.
Tommy even began to experience seizures, probably caused by the fall from the truck, and was placed under continuous observation.
Yet even in his fragile state, this tiny boy showed a glimmer of life! There was no doubt that Tommy was a fighter. And he desperately wanted to live.
He’s Safe Now
After being admitted to animal services, Tommy was later transferred to Austin Pets Alive!, known for taking dogs in critical conditions.
Upon examination, the team tied a tiny bell to his collar so they could monitor him for seizures throughout the night. His condition was truly heartbreaking. Tommy, being a puppy at the start of his life, was still trying to understand the world that had hurt him.
But thanks to dedicated caregivers, he was cared for around the clock.
Against all odds, he started to eat again. Tommy’s appetite grew stronger as he realized he was finally safe.
“Today, we’re seeing that despite experiencing such a traumatic experience, Tommy still has a fervor for eating — he licks his bowl clean every time, and has some of that puppy playfulness in him,” the rescue added.
Those little moments, like Tommy’s tail wag or a nap without trembling, meant everything to the team that had fought for him. Although his recovery wouldn’t be easy, there’s no doubt that from now on, Tommy finally has something to fight for: hope.
