Suzette Hall, who leads the California-based rescue Logan’s Legacy 29, receives countless alerts about stray dogs wandering Southern California, hoping someone will step in to help. But one particular call stood out.
A concerned citizen reported finding not just one, but three tiny dogs roaming an abandoned property in Compton. What made the situation unique was their unwavering bond: they wouldn’t leave each other’s side.
Planning A Rescue For A Fearful Trio
As soon as Hall heard the details, she knew this rescue would be challenging. Capturing one scared dog is difficult enough, but three at once would require careful strategy.
She understood she might be their only chance and needed to act with precision.
“It was beyond heartbreaking to see. They are all so tiny,” Hall wrote on Facebook.
Unfortunately, her rescue van broke down, delaying the mission for a few days. In the meantime, her friend Mary Nakiso stepped in, visiting the dogs each evening and bringing nourishing meals to keep them strong while they waited.
When Hall finally arrived at the property, she was struck by the sight of the three dogs huddled together, visibly frightened but deeply connected.
“They were so scared, but they had each other. And boy, do they love each other,” Hall stated.
Hall approached gently, careful not to overwhelm them. She spoke in a soft, calming voice, hoping to reassure them that they were safe.
The smallest pup was the first to be secured, while Nakiso worked patiently to gain the trust of the middle sibling. Before long, two of the dogs were safe.
“The little girl loved Mary so much, and Mary was able to get her,” Hall wrote.
The tiniest pup, now named Oscar, and his sister Jolene waited in Hall’s van while she and Nakiso returned for their older brother, Ollie.
“The third baby boy was so beyond scared, he kept going into the garage,” she wrote.
Realizing he needed more time, they decided to let him decompress and took Oscar and Jolene to Camino Pet Hospital for care.
A Second Chance For Ollie
Later that night, Hall returned to the property with reinforcements. She placed a humane trap near the garage where Ollie had been hiding, hoping he would enter on his own.
By morning, Hall found Ollie calmly waiting inside the trap. She rushed him to the vet hospital, where he was joyfully reunited with his siblings.
“They were all so scared. So cold, so hungry. But they were finally all safe. They had each other again,” Hall wrote.
After receiving full checkups, the trio was ready for foster care. Hall’s friend Genavie Ochoa offered to take all three, ensuring they wouldn’t be separated.
Though Ollie remained cautious around people, Oscar and Jolene quickly embraced the comforts of indoor life.
Their caregivers are confident that, with time, all three will leave their difficult past behind and embrace the love ahead.
“Ollie is so scared, but the other two are so sweet and love belly rubs. These poor babies went through so much,” Hall told The Dodo.

Hall believes that Oscar, Jolene, and Ollie will eventually find the perfect forever home where they can relax and enjoy the lives they’ve always deserved.
For now, the warmth and care they receive in foster care is helping them feel safe and loved.“I’m sure they haven’t slept this good in a long time. They are rescued and have each other,” Hall concluded.
